An Interview with Nancy from Maine Naturally
I want to take a minute to thank Nancy from Maine Naturally for allowing me to interview her.
Please take a minute and read about her and her store. Also if you have a minute visiting her store is well worth
the time. She has some NEAT stuff.
1. What is the name of your business and your web address?
The name of my business is
Maine Naturally, web address is http://www.mainenaturally.com 2. How long have you been in business? Have you always been on the web or were you ever a brick and mortar? I have had my online shoppe for about 3 years now, I have never had a brick and mortar store, although I would love to. 3. When did you start making your candles, tarts? What made you decide to offer them “mainely” in white? or natural? I started making candles five years ago, then
I went to making melts. I discovered soy wax which I love, and it is a natural wax,
so I decided to offer them in “natural” without the dyes in them. I also use cotton
core wicks, never lead or zinc core wicks. I do use the best of fragrance oils, so
my melts especially are very high in scent. 4. I noticed that you not only do candles, melts but have bath & body, dolls, potpourri on your site-do you do this all yourself? I do all my candles, potpourri,
bath & body products, and soaps myself. The dolls and angels are sewn for me
by a good friend of mine. 5. Is your web site a reflection of all the crafts that you enjoy doing? absolutely. I have always had candles in my home, even before I made them myself. I have
melters going all the time, and have decorated my home in handmade items. 6. Are there any “groups” you belong to? I belong to the djdoodles auction site, and am an active part of the djunction forum. 7. I noticed that you are now offering wholesale-are you wholesaling everything you offer or just certain items? I just began to offer wholesale on my candles and
tarts only for now. I will see how it goes. If I get gals that would like other things,
then I will see what else to offer. 8. How do you manage a family and your business? Do you have a “job” outside the home as well or is this your main work? I am retired from my job outside the home. I was fortunate to have enough time in to retire while Im still fairly young.
It’s only myself and my husband at home now, kids are all grown and have kids
of their own. Oh, and my dog and two cats, of course. I spend at least one full
day a week on crafts and another on the website. Im constantly trying to improve
my products. 9. You are welcome to mention any groups you are a part of-names that people may associate with you …etc.
Other than the ebay group, I really don’t belong to
any other groups. I think a lot of people know me as Strawberricandle. That is
the name I started out with, and still use in my emails and other things.
10. Do you have any ’sales’ going on? And if so would you like to share what they are?
What I call my “everyday special” is my hearts and tarts. You receive 12 hearts and 12 tarts for
6.00! It’s under my melties button.
