How to Treat your Daycare Provider
Daycare is an unthankful job that few care to do, others if they had their choice wouldn't put their child in daycare. What some people don't think about is that your daycare provider has a great responsibility. That responsibility being your children. Daycare providers open their home sometimes for 12 hours a day to crying children, poopy diapers, runny noses, drool, puke and other not-so-fun things. Daycare providers also sometimes get the satisfaction of watching a child from 8 weeks until they go to Kindergarten-which can be a wonderful transition. What parents need to remember -those that have their children in daycare are these things: Daycare providers have a life too. It is important to call if you aren't going to be there at your scheduled time. Also the same goes for being on time to pick up your children. Payment should be paid with no question come Friday morning or Thursday night. This is your daycare providers income and just as you wouldn't want your pay delayed, neither does your daycare provider. We all know that most kids would rather be home with their parent(s) but that isn't always possible-so make drop off quick, but loving and to the point. Going on and on that you are sorry and it will be ok for 15 minutes doesn't make it easy for the child or for the daycare provider. Just call after you leave to check on them if you need to-a great daycare provider will understand. Daycare providers are not the local soap opera. Most daycare providers want to know what is going on in your life IF it affects little Johnny-but they don't want to me in the middle of a husband/wife issue etc. Remember daycare providers although they look like they are "bringing in the bucks" have to sacrifice their home and sometimes their privacy in order to watch your kids. Make them feel appreciated if even it is a card that just says "You are appreciated."
